Paraguay UNESCO has registered 1 site on the World Heritage list and 12 on the tentative list.

Some places are so interesting that it’s relevant to keep them for future generations. This is why UNESCO has built a list of crucial classified properties in which superb places stand out for their aesthetic, natural, artistic, or cultural significance.

More than a thousand places are registered as Unesco’s World Heritage worldwide. Due to my interest in visiting World Heritage sites, I compiled the UNESCO list in Paraguay and the corresponding map.

Description

  1. The Jesuit Missions of La Santísima Trinidad de Paraná and Jesús de Tavarangue are religious and architectural sites in Paraguay, built by Jesuit missionaries in the 17th and 18th centuries. These missions were established with the aim of evangelizing and protecting the indigenous Guaraní people from Portuguese and Spanish colonial forces. The missions are characterized by their unique blend of European Baroque and indigenous Guaraní styles and their innovative use of local materials and construction techniques. They are also known for their well-preserved remains, including churches, houses, workshops, and cemeteries, which provide important insights into the history and culture of the region. The Jesuit Missions of La Santísima Trinidad de Paraná and Jesús de Tavarangue were inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List in 1993.

UNESCO World Heritage Sites in Paraguay have protected places for their cultural and natural importance.
